Job Purpose 
To be responsible to the Head of Field Litigation for ensuring our clients receive a world class level of 
service when they are the subject of litigation in the employment tribunal jurisdiction. Undertaking 
side by side coaching, mentoring, including quality assessments and overseeing the work undertaken 
by members of the Litigation Field Team whilst developing their service in respect of the conduct of 
cases from drafting documents, visiting clients, preparing cases for hearing and representing clients 
whilst carrying a smaller autonomous caseload. 

Job Overview 
We are looking for a candidate who is confident, articulate and legally qualified and who has a 
significant level of employment law experience. The successful candidate will be part of the UK Legal 
Leadership Team and will work closely with all Employment Services Teams across the business. 
There is a strong focus on ensuring that high standards of service and client care is provided to clients. 
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and impeccable professional 
standards to lead on technical, complex or problematic cases or appeals and to assist with the 
supervision and development of colleagues within the Litigation Field Team. 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities 
• Regular side by side coaching whilst reviewing work on UK Employment Tribunal claims.
• Conducting formal quality assessments in respect of work done throughout the conduct of
Employment Tribunal cases, including preparatory work, client visits and advocacy at Hearings.
• Coach, mentor and develop members of the Litigation Field Team so as to improve technical
proficiency and/or client care skills. Identify any development needs and liaise with Leadership
Team on any themes and trends in terms of development areas following completion of the
assessment process.
• Visiting clients either at their premises/offices or at the Group’s Head Office and/or Regional
• Attending and conducting case managements discussions, preliminary hearings, full merits
hearings, remedy hearings, appeal hearings and any other type of hearing as and when required at
hearing centres in England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland.
• Demonstrate commercial knowledge of the Company’s range of services and products and to be
able to discuss these with clients as appropriate, and to proactively assist in the retention of
existing clients and promoting new business opportunities by obtaining introductions for potential
new clients.
• Attend either at Group’s Head Office in Manchester and/or at the Regional Offices in order to
undertake training, participate in team or other meetings as required.
• Liaising with other members of the Management team, offering support to their respective teams 
to assist in building and maintaining a cohesive and motivated team, providing leadership and 
support to colleagues and peers.
• To deal with service issues through to resolution and in a timely manner.
• Line-manage a team of Field based Litigation Consultants, meeting with each team member at least
fortnightly, in order to develop and lead whilst providing professional support and assistance on
strategic, technical and/or complex employment law queries.
• Liaison with the Insurers and point of contact in terms of providing reserving information and
recommendations on coverage.
• Completion/Submission of weekly report by 5pm every Friday outlining number of coaching
sessions completed, casework in progress and objectives for the forthcoming week.
The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as 
necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall objectives of the business.
The role will involve travel throughout the United Kingdom in the course of your duties, to observe 
members of the Litigation Team, to visit clients and/or to undertake hearings. You may also be 
required to attend Tribunal User Group or Employment Law Seminars, training and/or other meetings 
from time to time. These may be outside of normal office hours.
