It’s a brand new year for employment law and with a new year comes fresh updates.

Now we’re into 2025, we’re ready to bring you even more major HR and Health & Safety news, so you can stay safely in line with the latest legislation and keep your business fully up to date.

And in terms of legal changes, we’re already off to a flying start.

If your leave year runs from January to December and you employ part-year and irregular hour workers, you’ll now be able to change how you calculate their pay.

Last year it became legal for employers to use the rolled-up holiday pay method (a method which was previously banned) – but only for part-year and irregular hour workers. This took effect for leave years on or after April 2024.

Can I pay rolled up holiday pay?

Get instant, expert answers to your HR questions...

You can also expect new rules on fire and rehire processes, national minimum wage rises, new paid leave entitlements and more in the coming months.

With lots of changes in store, we’ll be keeping you regularly updated. But if you have any questions in the meantime or would like to speak to an adviser, just get in touch. We’re here to support you – so whatever the question, drop us a line.

And from us all of us at Peninsula, we wish you a happy and successful new year!
