Does your company recognise long service? At Peninsula we place an emphasis on recognising this as we have numerous employees who have been with us for many years, we have employees who have over 20 years’ service, and indeed my fellow Director of Consultancy has almost 30 years’ service with Peninsula, which in any career is a long time. I think it is very important to recognise such individuals, as these are the individuals who have remained loyal. Of course they will have good days and bad, but they have remained loyal and steadfast. Such employees can be rewarded at a low cost, for example, consider awarding them with a long service badge, something that reflects the number of years they have been with the business. It may not cost much, but the incentive can go a long way to help boost morale by making the employee feel valued, after all they have spent a considerable period of their time working with you, helping to grow your business and a small token of appreciation can make a difference. Other ways to say thank you can include giving mention of such individuals to your workforce, if you have an intranet or staff newsletter then this is the perfect opportunity; again it can really help to boost staff morale. So celebrate your appreciation for long service employees, let your workforce know just how much you appreciate their dedication and loyalty by recognising their long service.
