Safety Management Training

Mark Owen – Health & Safety Expert

February 15 2016

In another first for Peninsula, January saw our Business Safety department host a four day ‘Managing Safely’ course at our Manchester Office, for fourteen managers and supervisors from our BusinessSafe client base – a slightly different way of delivering our services... Usually the course is delivered to groups from the same company, in their own workplace. This ‘open course’ was arranged in response to our clients’ requests for flexibility – where group training wasn’t cost-effective, or because they couldn’t afford to take a group of managers out of the work place for so long. Topics covered The course covered 8 key subjects:
  • The importance of managing safely
  • The responsibilities of managers
  • Defining risk and completing risk assessments with adequate control measures
  • Legal requirements
  • Common hazards and controlling those hazards
  • Accidents and incidents
  • Performance measurement
  • The impact of industry on the environment
During the last session, course members’ knowledge was formally tested and they’re now proud holders of the internationally recognised IOSH Managing Safely qualification. Attendee feedback Everyone who attended said they enjoyed the training, had a better understanding of the subject and would find it useful to their work. They found the opportunity to network and discuss shared problems and experiences across a range of businesses particularly helpful. All delegates reported that this new skill set would help them to better understand and follow the advice of their BusinessSafe Consultant. Book your place on the next course! Due to the course being oversubscribed and in light of continuing demand, we’ll be running another Managing Safely course at Peninsula’s Head Office in Manchester, from Monday 9th May to Thursday 12th May 2016. The training will take place in one of our purpose-designed training rooms at The Peninsula in central Manchester, with lunch, refreshments and all required materials provided. If you decide to come along, you’ll be joined by peers from other organisations presenting an ideal opportunity to network and share problems and solutions. Special rate available We’re offering this course at the special rate of £495 (+ VAT) per delegate - for further information call us on 0844 892 2785, option 3, and speak to Sinead or Luke... but be sure to book your place early to avoid disappointment!
