Peninsula Business Services’ Health & Safety Guidance Notes provide industry specific assistance on the current legislation and advice on how to maintain best practice. They also provide assistance when used in conjunction with the bespoke Health & Safety Policy and Arrangements which has been set up for your organisation by one of our dedicated Health & Safety Consultancy
Accessing the catalogue of Guidance Notes couldn’t be simpler. Once you have logged in to BusinessWise all you need to do is navigate to the SafetyWise tab and select ‘Guidance Notes’ from the documentation section on the right hand side.
On entering the Guidance Notes section you will see a list of category headings. Once expanded, you will be presented with the selection of Guidance Notes relevant to those categories. For example if you require assistance on ‘Hand Tools’ this will be found in the section ‘Plant & Equipment Safety’. Don’t worry if you aren’t sure which heading suits the guidance you are looking for, simply take a look at the Conversion Table which acts as a glossary and informs you exactly where you can find what you are looking for. Once you have found the relevant Guidance Note you then have the option to add it as a bookmark within the Guidance Notes section so you don’t have to repeat the process of finding it again.
You will also notice that each Guidance Note has a number scheme (1-1, 1-2 etc) – these numbers correspond to the Safety Arrangements that have been set up in your bespoke Health & Safety Policy. An example of this would be Pest Control, the Safety Arrangement is numbered 3-4, so by selecting the category 3 in Guidance Notes (Workplace Safety) you will see the 4th Guidance Note is ‘Pest Control’. This will help you in establishing best practice for all those issues that our dedicated Health & Safety Consultant has discussed with you when setting up your policy.
Furthermore, when carrying out a Risk Assessment using SafetyWise, you can select ‘Guidance Notes’ from the side menu allowing you to garner the information you need without having to navigate away from the assessment you are compiling. This can provide handy at-a-glance information and hopefully help to ease some of the problems people experience when assessing risk.
The benefit of these being available exclusively online is that when any Guidance Note is updated or new ones created, they will be available immediately so you will always be up to date with legislation without you having to order any new documentation from us. We will also alert you to the change via the News items on the left hand side of your SafetyWise account.
