I always think that now is a good time to take stock of your achievements in 2014, I discussed this recently on my blog, however it is also an ideal opportunity to plan the new year ahead. With most employees returning on January 5th it is a good idea to send an email to your management team in advance, ask them to review the year previous; commentate on what they achieved and what they could have done better, and ask them to list 10 objectives for the year ahead. Provide them with a set deadline of when you expect a response. Once responses have been received review objectives set and shortlist the priorities as these will be used to devise the clear objectives for your business. Keep them realistic however ensure that both management and employees can strive to attain the goals implemented. Objectives can also be used to set your business key performance indicators [KPI’s]. I think it is essential and crucial that businesses properly prepare and implement objectives for the year ahead, this can help move a business forward, allowing you to celebrate the successes of 2015, reap the benefits of a successful business and learn from mistakes previous. Finally may I take this opportunity to wish you a healthy and prosperous 2015.
