An announcement was made regarding the National Minimum Wage on December 19th, 2019. So, what’s the news?

Minimum wage increase kicks in on February 1st

The National Minimum Wage will break the €10 barrier for the first time this year.

The minimum rate of pay will increase by €0.30 from €9.80 per hour to €10.10 per hour.

And remember, the increase takes effect from February 1st this year, so don’t forget to adjust payroll.

Increase delayed due to Brexit

Increases to the National Minimum Wage rate typically take effect on January 1st each year.

The government chose to postpone the increase this year to assess the impact of the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.
