The A-Z of Health & Safety

Peninsula Team

As part of our mission to make health & safety simplewe have compiled a brief list explaining important topics relating to health & safety in the workplace.  Each issue we represent a letter of the alphabet and associate a few words in health and safety requirements associated with that letter.

Accidents: Notification & Reporting – General Application Regulations

The reporting of accidents and dangerous occurrences provisions of the General Application Regulation 1993 was the one part of the General Application Regulations not repealed by the 2007 Regulations.   The Health and Safety Authority must be notified of accidents that cause death or injury that prevents the worker from working for more than 3 consecutive days.

Access – Safety Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005

Employers are obliged so far as is reasonably practicable, to provide and maintain a safe means of access and egress to and from workplaces.

Asbestos – Asbestos Regulations 2006

Whilst it is now banned, the use of Asbestos in building materials continued up to the year 2000 and was once common to all new buildings. You need to be aware of the risks it may pose to your workers and others who may be affected.
