I called last week to ask for some advice. We sent an employee down to the walk in centre to see a GP as he had a rash. He was diagnosed with shingles and given medication and then he came straight back to work. Some of our employees were concerned that it may be contagious but he hadn't been signed off by the GP so I called Peninsula to ask what I should do. I wasn't sure what my obligations were as any employer.
When I explained this to the advisor I was first of all told that he couldn't give medical advice. I said I didn't want medical advice I wanted to know what I should do about the other employees who were concerned.
He then said he should put me through to H&S for risk assessments. I said 'do I need to do a risk assessment' and he said he didn't know.
By this point I was getting frustrated and he told me I he were me, he would google Shingles and do my own research on whether or not it was contagious.
This is the least helpful advice I have EVER had from Peninsula and I am not happy with the service and 'don't care' attitude I received from your company.
