What is reportable under RIDDOR?

  • Accidents resulting in the death of any person
  • Accidents resulting in specified injuries to workers
  • Non-fatal accidents requiring hospital treatment to non-workers and dangerous occurrences
  • Must be reported to the enforcing authority without delay

NOTE: A report must be received within 10 days of the incident. For accidents resulting in the over-seven-day incapacitation of a worker, you must notify the enforcing authority within 15 days of the incident, using the appropriate online form.

What does ‘RIDDOR’ stand for?

‘RIDDOR’ stands for the Reporting of Injuries Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013, which puts duties on employers, the self-employed and people in control of work premises (the Responsible Person) to report certain serious workplace accidents, occupational diseases and dangerous occurrences (near misses).
