Discipline & Grievance: ACAS Consultation & Process Updates

Acas consultation regarding proposed changes to the Code of Practice on Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures is underway.

These reforms are key because once adopted, the revised Code will influence employment tribunals’ judgement of the fairness of dismissals and grievance handling.

Peninsula’s employment law experts covered the following areas:

• Reason for revisions: Employers and employees are encouraged to seek an informal route to resolve disputes earlier.
• Changing processes: How employers manage discipline and grievance concerns may have to change, and written policies will need updating.
• Increased compensation: If the proposed changes aren’t followed, compensation awards could go up to 25%
