What is Businesssafe training?

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the associated Management of Health and Safety At Work Regulations 1999 require employers to ensure that their workforce including managers and supervisors are trained and competent.

BusinessSafe training is designed to help employers discharge their responsibilities through the provision of appropriate health and safety training. Our practical and interactive health and safety training courses will enable participants to understand and deal with common day-to-day health and safety issues in a professional and positive manner.

What training is available?

A comprehensive training suite is available to meet the needs of most businesses. We can deliver courses in the format that best suits you and your employees. In many cases they will also meet requirements imposed on you by business partners such as insurers and business principals. These include-

  • In-house training – training is delivered at your workplace using the facilities familiar to your workforce.
  • Peninsula hosted training. – we provide the training in one of our comfortable training rooms.
  • Face to Face – one to one training delivered by one our BusinessSafety professionals.
  • Tailored – courses adapted or developed to meet the specific needs and requirement of your business and employees.

Are your courses accredited?

In addition to our own training courses we can deliver accredited training to syllabuses developed and managed by both the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) and the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

For IOSH these courses include Directing Safely, Managing Safely and Working Safely. For the CIEH they include a range of courses at levels 2 and 3 including Health and Safety Awareness, Training For Safety, Manual Handling, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health and Risk Assessment.

Will training reflect the needs of my business?

Every business and workplace is different, and will therefore have different needs when it comes to health and safety. From the layout of your workplace and the number of staff, to the different machinery or chemicals you may work with, each business deserves a bespoke health and safety training session to help employees fully get to grips with their obligations

Peninsula will of course help clients to design, implement and maintain a watertight health and safety policy, and can provide advice over the phone whenever it is needed – but alongside our employment law and HR training, the aim of our health and safety training service is to ensure those on the front line are also in the know. When employers and managers understand the reasoning behind the legislation that affects them, it provides them with greater motivation to fulfil their obligations. Having this basic knowledge of employment law and health and safety could ultimately mean problems are averted or resolved before they become more serious.

Who will deliver the training?

Our BusinessSafe health and safety courses are delivered by members of our consultancy team. They are all qualified competent and members of recognised professional bodies, most are also registered on the voluntary Occupational Safety and Health Consultants Register.

Consultants who deliver training all hold and additional training qualification and those who deliver CIEH and IOSH accredited courses are accredited with those professional bodies.

What evidence of training will be available?

Everyone who completes a Peninsula BusinessSafe Training Course will receive an individual Certificate of Attendance and their employer will receive confirmation of those attending and the course content for their records.

With CIEH and IOSH courses there is a short test paper to be completed by candidates during the final session. Successful candidates receive a certificate of training and competence directly from the accrediting body. The competencies acknowledged by these certificates are widely recognised across the business community.
