Rising costs top worry for Canadian businesses, new survey finds

Most Canadian employers say their main concern in 2024 is rising costs as the economy cools and inflation remains high, according to a new global survey. Among the countries surveyed, the UK ranked highest in concern at around 87%, while Canada's concern stood at approximately 82%. Despite these worries, there's a prevailing sense of optimism, with growth being the primary business goal for nearly half of the companies surveyed. Recruitment of top talent remains a significant challenge globally, though Canadian employers exhibit relatively less concern in this aspect. To retain skilled employees, strategies such as financial remuneration, flexible working hours, and recognition programs are being implemented.
