Accounts Assistant

Job Purpose

To assist the UK management accounts team in the preparation of the monthly management accounts and provide support for the finance team reporting to the Financial Controller. 

Job Overview

The Accounts Assistant will work closely with the Financial Controller and Management Accountants to produce monthly management accounts for the Peninsula UK entity. They will be well organised and knowledgeable of accounting principles, be flexible to information requests from external departments and to assist the production of the primary statements for review by the Financial Controller and Finance Director.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

·         Assisting in the budgeting process for submission to Financial Controller and Finance Director.

·         Assist in the preparation of management accounts.

·         Assisting with review of ledger staff processing.

·         Assist in the production of monthly regulatory returns, including VAT returns for review by Financial Controller.

·         Prepare accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset working papers and reconciliations.

·         Produce the intercompany matrix and the monthly intercompany reconciliations.

·         Produce nominal reconciliations each month

·         Process month end journals

·         Produce cost analysis and ensure this is reflected in the commentary.

·         Other ad-hoc tasks as required for the Financial Controller and Finance Director

What you Bring to the Team

·         Ability to organise & prioritise workload to produce high quality work within deadlines.

·         Be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of financial reporting procedures

·         Demonstrate ownership of own processes to effectively complete and improve

·         Ability to organise, manipulate and present large volumes of data using Excel spreadsheets.

·         Can work on own initiative and deliver high quality analysis and insight.

Qualifications

·         AAT level 4 qualified and or studying toward CIMA or ACCA.
