Introduction

Nelli is an HR manager at Advantage Smollan, a global marketing agency. Faced with a costly tribunal claim from an ex-employee, Nelli worked with Peninsula to save time and reduce the risk to the business.

The situation

Working for a large business, Nelli has handled tribunal claims before.

However, with uncapped pay-outs, the cost of losing a claim is too high. And that’s not to mention all the time it takes to prepare the case…

So when an ex-employee raised a false claim against the business, Nelli made sure she worked with Peninsula.

The solution

After the claimant demanded an unreasonable settlement fee, Nelli felt she had no choice but to start the tribunal process.

First, Nelli spoke to her dedicated adviser, Vicky. After reviewing the case, she confirmed that the business was legally in the clear – and safe to proceed.

Then, one of Peninsula’s qualified solicitors began to prepare for tribunal.

The solicitor negotiated with Acas on behalf of the business, gathered witness statements, and compiled a full legal bundle. Instead of paying hourly solicitor rates for this service, Advantage Smollan received all this support as standard – within their fixed monthly fee.

And since Nelli was already a Peninsula client, she didn’t need to waste any time introducing her business.

Advantage Smollan won the case without paying the sky-high settlement. The business also saved thousands of pounds on legal fees.

And now?

Nelli continues to reach out to Vicky regularly. Having a dedicated HR adviser means she can get a second opinion on any decision – giving her the confidence that she’s always working within the right legal guidelines.

I speak to Vicky regularly

So each week is different, sometimes I speak to her every day, sometimes I speak to her twice a day. We work collaboratively together. If I haven’t spoken to Vicky for three or four days, I think I start getting withdrawal symptoms!
